Kenya's Leadership Shocker: Kindiki Takes Deputy President Role in Mid-Term Power Shift!

It was a momentous moment for Kenyan politics: Professor Kithure Kindiki took the oath of office, earlier today at KICC Nairobi, and became the Deputy President of the country, going down in history as one of the few officials to assume such a high office before the end of an electoral term. Far from the usual five-year election cycle, this presents a new dawn in Kenya's political landscape, testing the stability of governance structures in the country. The swearing-in of Kindiki is significant, not only because transitions at the executive level at mid-term periods are rare but also for what it represents: adaptability in governance amidst an evolving political climate.  Conventionally, a deputy president should serve a full term with the president except in circumstances beyond their control. This appointment in the middle of the cycle has, however, driven the point home that leadership changes can occur through constitutional processes and not necessarily through electoral cycle

NEW DAWN IN THE METHODIST CHURCH IN KENYA

It is a new dawn to the Methodist Church in Kenya as they usher in a new Presiding Bishop.

Bishop Isaiah Deye, the new Presiding Bishop, was elected in free and open elections held at the Methodist headquarters in Nairobi on Thursday, July 20, 2023.

Bishop Deye, who hails from Kilifi County, is now the 7th Presiding Bishop, taking over from Bishop Ntombura whose term ended on August 4, 2022.

This comes as great news to all Tom, Dick and Harry in the Methodist Church in Kenya as the long fight to redeem the Methodist Church has finally yielded fruits.

Bishop Deye who was acting as the Presiding Bishop, awaiting elections, has now been officially confirmed and will take office in January 2024.

The entire body of believers in the Methodist Church in Kenya believes in the newly elected Presiding Bishop, Isaiah Deye, to steer and take the Methodist Church to greater heights with guidance from God.

Bishop Isaiah Deye has worked as the Conference Secretary during the tenure of the former presiding bishop.

Other Presiding Bishops that served in the Methodist Church in Kenya were:

1. Bishop Ronald Mung'ong'o - 1968 to 1970.

2. Rev. Dr. Lawi Imathiu - 1971 to 1980 and 1985 to 1992

3. Rev. Johana Mbogori - 1981 to 1984

4. Rev. Prof. Zablon Nthamburi - 1993 to 2002

5. Bishop Dr. Stephen Kanyaru - 2003 to 2012

6. Bishop Joseph Ntombura - 2013 to 2022

The Bible makes it clear, it is God who appoints our leaders, rulers, and kings (Romans 13:1). It is God who sets kings over us, (Daniel 2:21, 5:18).

All the best to the new Presiding Bishop, Isaiah Deye.
