NEW CABINET?

Following every president's entry in power, appointment of  cabinet secretaries is inevitable to suit a government tailored for the president and one that should see to it that the citizens are served as it should be, if not as per the president's manifesto.

Following this, Kenya's now fifth President, Dr. William Samoei Ruto, has now appointed his cabinet secretaries, which consists of 22 members on Tuesday 27th September 2022 a fortnight after his inauguration.

He had earlier held a meeting, on the same Tuesday he introduced his new cabinet, with the outgoing cabinet secretaries who were under the former President Uhuru's government.

President Ruto named ANC party leader, Musalia Mudavadi, as the Prime Cabinet Secretary. With his position, Musalia Mudavadi happens to be the third most powerful government official after the president, William Ruto, and his deputy president, Rigathi Gachagua.

Making Mudavadi's position clear to the public, President Ruto said that Mudavadi's role is to oversee the government's projects and coordinate national legislative agenda.

Maendeleo Chap Chap Party leader and former Machakos governor, Dr. Alfred Mutua, has been appointed as the Cabinet Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign and Diaspora Affairs.

Aden Duale takes over from where Fred Matiang'i has left  as the Cabinet Secretary in the Ministry of Defence as Professor George Magoha hands the baton to Mr. Ezekiel Machogu as the Cabinet Secretary in the Ministry of Education.

Other Cabinet Secretaries appointed are:

Professor Kithure Kindiki in Ministry of Interior and National Administration,

Njuguna Ndung'u in Ministry of Treasury and Planning,

Alice Wahome in Ministry of Water, Sanitation and Irrigation,

Aisha Jumwa in Ministry of Public Service, Gender and Affirmative Action,

Kipchumba Murkomen in Ministry of Roads and Transport,

Moses Kuria in Ministry of Trade, Investment ad Industry,

Soipan Tunya in Ministry of Environment and Forestry,

Rebecca Miano in EAC, ASL and Regional Development,

Zacharia Njeru in Ministry of Lands and Housing,

Susan Wafula in Ministry of Health,

Davis Chirchir in Ministry of Energy and Petroleum,

Eliud Owalo in Ministry of Communication,

Florence Bore in Ministry of Labour,

Salim Mvurya in Ministry of Mining.

Peninah Malonza takes office as Cabinet Secretary in the Ministry of Tourism, Wildlife and Heritage which has been office for Honorable Najib Balala for the last 12 years.

Mithika Linturi, who was eyeing the Meru gubernatorial seat which he lost to his competitor; now Meru Governor Kawira Mwangaza, has been appointed as the new Cabinet Secretary of Agriculture and Livestock Development taking from Peter Munya.

In the sports world, folowing the win of the legendary Eliud Kipchoge, Ababu Namwamba takes position as the newly appointed Cabinet Secretary of Sports and Youth Affairs which was formerly being led by Amina Mohammed.

The names will be forwaded to Parliament for vetting and approval from which the Cabinet Secretaries approved will commence their works and help in making the president's shared manifesto during pre-elections become a reality and not just words.

Now we wait to see the bottom-up economy in action.

Praying for a better and peaceful Kenya as I wish the new Cabinet all the best as they deliver the best services to the people of Kenya.
