Kenya's Leadership Shocker: Kindiki Takes Deputy President Role in Mid-Term Power Shift!

It was a momentous moment for Kenyan politics: Professor Kithure Kindiki took the oath of office, earlier today at KICC Nairobi, and became the Deputy President of the country, going down in history as one of the few officials to assume such a high office before the end of an electoral term. Far from the usual five-year election cycle, this presents a new dawn in Kenya's political landscape, testing the stability of governance structures in the country. The swearing-in of Kindiki is significant, not only because transitions at the executive level at mid-term periods are rare but also for what it represents: adaptability in governance amidst an evolving political climate.  Conventionally, a deputy president should serve a full term with the president except in circumstances beyond their control. This appointment in the middle of the cycle has, however, driven the point home that leadership changes can occur through constitutional processes and not necessarily through electoral cycle

A baby rescued alive from rubble after Turkey earthquake; as search for survivors continues

A 7.7 magnitude tremor struck the Pazarcik disctrict of Kahramanmaras province in Turkey which in about nine hours later, a 7.6 magnitude quake centered and affected several other provinces.

The earthquake was also felt in several countries in the region including Lebanon and Syria.

At least 3,432 people have been confirmed dead whereas 21,103 are nursing injuries in 10 provinces of Turkey after the two strong earthquakes thrusted the southern part of  the country on Monday.

More than 8,000 people have been rescued.

More than 2,100 miners have been sent off to help in search and rescue efforts in the affected areas.

Disaster teams from North West Turkey rescued a six-month-old baby who was under the rubble for about 33 hours in quake-hit Hatay province. The rescue workers pulled out the 'poor' baby who was barely crying and appeared to be dirty but unscarred.

The mother emerged shortly after, able to walk in Hatay province.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has declared a three-month state of emergency in the ten provinces hit by the massive quakes.

The second earthquake was big enough to bring down more buildings, and like the first, was felt across the region, endangering rescuers struggling to pull casualities from the wreckage.

President Erdogan also confirmed that 5,000 health workers have been dispatched to southern Turkey provinces to help in rescuing the lives; whereas 54,000 tents and 102,000 beds sent to the earthquake-hit regions.

Praying with and for them ๐Ÿ™.
