Kenya's Leadership Shocker: Kindiki Takes Deputy President Role in Mid-Term Power Shift!

It was a momentous moment for Kenyan politics: Professor Kithure Kindiki took the oath of office, earlier today at KICC Nairobi, and became the Deputy President of the country, going down in history as one of the few officials to assume such a high office before the end of an electoral term. Far from the usual five-year election cycle, this presents a new dawn in Kenya's political landscape, testing the stability of governance structures in the country. The swearing-in of Kindiki is significant, not only because transitions at the executive level at mid-term periods are rare but also for what it represents: adaptability in governance amidst an evolving political climate.  Conventionally, a deputy president should serve a full term with the president except in circumstances beyond their control. This appointment in the middle of the cycle has, however, driven the point home that leadership changes can occur through constitutional processes and not necessarily through electoral cycle

HOPE AS MIKE SONKO OFFERS TO HELP BABY SAGINI RESTORE HIS SIGHT BACK

It is a sad dark ending for Baby Sagini, a three-year-old boy whose eyes were gouged out. Unknown to him and wondering why everything has turned black for him, he has to come to terms with the cruel reality of having to remain blind for the rest of his life, after both his eyes were mercilessly gouged out by an assailant.

The boy was playing with other children outside his grandmother's house in Kisii before the grotesquely tragic experience happened to him. He was snatched by an assailant and was found abandoned in a maize plantation at Ikuruma village in Marani Sub-county covered in blood. He was then rushed to hospital, where he is receiving treatment.

Doctors have however said that he might not see again because his eyes were greatly damaged.

Despite the breaking news of doctors confirming that Baby Sagini might have to live with a disability, all hope is not lost as Mike Sonko has offered to fly the three-year-old boy to China for eye implants.

Mike Sonko, through a post on his social media page, has said that he has done thorough research and identified a hospital in Shenzhen South China called Dennis Lam Eye Hospital which is the best at successfully performing eye implant surgeries.

"However after contacting the hospital we were advised Baby Sagini must have a referral from atleast two Kenyan hospitals. We went ahead and booked an appointment for him to be reviewed at the Westlands laser eye hospital..." read the post on Mike Sonko's Instagram page.

The former Nairobi governor went ahead to explain that the implants will look and move like normal eyes but do not restore vision. They will help him with navigation sensors to allow him get around on his own in familiar places.

The main suspect,  Alex Main Ochogo, who is a cousin to Junior Sagini has been arrested and gaoled at Rioma Police Station. The 28-year-old was presented before Senior Resident Magistrate Christine Ogweno on Monday 19 December 2022 as further investigations are underway.
