Kenya's Leadership Shocker: Kindiki Takes Deputy President Role in Mid-Term Power Shift!

It was a momentous moment for Kenyan politics: Professor Kithure Kindiki took the oath of office, earlier today at KICC Nairobi, and became the Deputy President of the country, going down in history as one of the few officials to assume such a high office before the end of an electoral term. Far from the usual five-year election cycle, this presents a new dawn in Kenya's political landscape, testing the stability of governance structures in the country. The swearing-in of Kindiki is significant, not only because transitions at the executive level at mid-term periods are rare but also for what it represents: adaptability in governance amidst an evolving political climate.  Conventionally, a deputy president should serve a full term with the president except in circumstances beyond their control. This appointment in the middle of the cycle has, however, driven the point home that leadership changes can occur through constitutional processes and not necessarily through electoral cycle

GET RICH QUICK? LEARN FROM THE VICTIMS.

Tana River Senator, Danson Mungatana, narrates his ordeal on how he lost all his money and investments in a 'Get-rich-quick' scheme.

The Nairobi Court was left perplexed, on Thursday, as Senator Mungatana detailed how he lost all his wealth to an alleged foreigner.

During a hearing, Mungatana recounts how one Abdoulaye Tamba Kouro, a Chad national, enticed him with a get-rich-quick scheme, which he assured to help him increase his wealth two folds.

Mungatana said that he happily invested for the first time in 2013 Ksh. 500,000 with the Tamba, which he claimed to have doubled to one million Kenyan shillings in about 6 months.

This made Mungatana trust the man and saw no harm of investing more money after the first deal of half a million went smoothly.

The legislator said that he initially borrowed loans to invest for a second time with the West African foreigner.

"This time round he said the opportunity is around 5 million Kenyan shillings. After 6 months your honour, the accused person took to his word and gave me back 10 million Kenyan shillings," said Mungatana.

Unknown to him that it was a well orchestrated trap to con him, the lawmaker Mungatana went ahead to mortgage his 70 million shilling home in Karen and gave all his money to the alleged witchdoctor.

With hopes of getting his investment back in 'double portion,' this time round was a little bit different for Mungatana as the Chad National vanished into thin air.

He ended up losing the home and his property

"Without a car, without anything and debts because after 6 months he was nowhere to be seen. That man disappeared from my life. My everything went down, all the years I had done my work they went down," a frustrated Mungatana said as he narrated to the court.

Senator Mungatana confessed to have been having problems with his late wife; as she believed he was misusing money with other things.

Mungatana said that he met Kouro through Mohammed Amin who promised to help him invest his money only for things to go south.

"Everytime you go there you will have no reason to think that your money has any risk given the history of returns," said Mungatana as he claimed that Kouro's apartment was serviced by men watching over him.

Mungatana's faithful bodyguard questioned his investments asking him if he was sure; only to brush him off by telling him everything was okay.

Mungatana asked the court to find the accused guilty and convict him of the offense.

Adding to the horrendous robbery scenes, Kenyan content creator Timothy Kimani alias Njugush narrated how he was robbed in Nairobi CBD on Friday 7th October 2022.

Writing on his Instagram story, Njugush said as he was driving back home he saw a middle aged woman limping which forced him to slow down. He then rolled down the car window and the woman started telling him how she has kids who have slept hungry for days.

"She looks beat...she told me she fends for herself but because of an accident she had...she was forced to beg," writes Njugush on his Instagram page.

The woman tells him to open the door so as to confirm which a convinced Njugush did; not knowing the trap laid ahead.

Opening the door, two men showed up out of nowhere armed with knives.

"If you dare call out for help, I will scream and tell people that you wanted to rape me," the woman told Njugush.

"Kumbe ata wasanii kimewaumania, simkuje tupige job huku," said the two men after noticing it was Njugush as the limping woman was transferring the money from the Njugush's phone.

Njugush urged his Instagram followers to be on the look out and avoid opening the car door as he laughed about the uncountable times he has been welcomed to Nairobi.

The famous 'kukaribishwa Nairobi' term.

His long-term friend and comedian, Abel Mutua, joked about his situation saying; "Huyu Njugush kwani alikuja Nairobi last week but one? Hajui town?πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚" Chasing it with some laughing emojis.

What better way of learning from the two scenarios than experiencing it first hand!
